In 2015 I developed, recorded and edited a Skillshare class about the Foundations of Drawing Letters. The class went over my frequently asked questions when I was learning hand lettering. I've seen many people ask the same questions about pens, papers, techniques and anatomy, so I decided to create a beginner level class covering these topics. The class was very well received, in two weeks over 1,000 students had enrolled to take the class and by the end of 2015 it was one of the top 10 Skillshare classes of the year.
After a couple of months I launched a booklet focused on the brush lettering section of the class and sold it on Etsy. In the span of a year, over 150 students ordered booklets from over 15 different countries.
If you wish to take this class you can do so here: http://skl.sh/1IJV3P7
The objective of the class is to answer the most frequent questions I had when learning how to draw letters. The class starts with an overview of the kinds of pens you can use.
Then I move on to explaining the different kinds of paper you can use, then I move on to the importance of knowing and practicing type anatomy, and finally go over different drawing techniques. Throughout the whole class I remind my students of the importance of practicing daily and sharing your work online to keep yourself motivated. Learning is a slow process, but practice makes perfect.
